Join CBC broadcaster and food writer Khalil Akhtar for an afternoon of hands-on Punjabi home cooking, inspired by his new book How to Eat with Your Hands: Roti Shoti and Other Ways to Settle In.
You'll learn the mechanics of making roti, from the dough to the rolling to the tava, and practise until it feels natural.
Khalil will also cook a couple of everyday curries as demonstrations, with plenty of chances to help, smell, and taste.
We'll finish with hands-on paratha, served with tea.
**Participation includes a copy of Khalil's book How to Eat with Your Hands: Roti Shoti and Other Ways to Settle In.
Beverages and all necessary supplies will be provided.

About Your Chef - Khalil Akhtar
Khalil Akhtar is a Canadian journalist, broadcaster, and cooking instructor. Akhtar was born in the United Kingdom to a Punjabi family and grew up in small-town Atlantic Canada.
He has spent two decades working in radio newsrooms across the country.
He is the host of CBC Radio’s Information Morning in Moncton, New Brunswick, and a past co-host of CBC’s On the Island in British Columbia. He created and hosted the CBC summer radio program The Main Ingredient and developed a long-running syndicated food column that aired on CBC morning shows across the country.
How to Eat with Your Hands is his first book.
